| Kelly Gallagher Moving to Ingram The Ingram Content Group has made two new executive appointments, including naming Kelly Gallagher v-p of content acquisition. Gallagher has been head of Bowker's publishing solutions team and is well known on the conference circuit where he regularly presents the latest findings from Bowker's data. He will join Ingram October 8 as will Pep Carrera who has been named chief information officer. more » The biggest book yet to be released under the New Harvest imprint, My Mother Was Nuts by Penny Marshall, sold just over 2,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielsen BookScan. Marshall's book, acquired by Amazon Publishing with the print edition released by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt's New Harvest imprint, received heavy promotion across Amazon's Web site, but earlier this year, booksellers across the country said they wouldn't carry New Harvest titles because of its ties to Amazon, and Barnes & Noble confirmed it is not carrying the physical book in its stores. more » ADVERTISEMENT Our review of J.K. October is National Bullying Prevention Month and in support, Random House Children's Books is unveiling a month-long campaign inspired by R.J. Palacio's Wonder (Knopf, Feb.). The middle-grade novel stars Auggie, a fifth-grade boy with a severe facial deformity who is attending a mainstream school for the first time. Back in May, Random House rolled out its Wonder-centric Choose Kind online anti-bullying campaign to provide a forum for readers of all ages to share stories, access information, and take the Choose Kind Pledge to practice everyday acts of kindness. Why 'Casual Vacancy' Embargo Didn't Hold: The embargo on the J.K. Rowling novel, reportedly one of the most draconian non-disclosure agreements in the history of publishing . . . did not quite work. Eugenides on Picoult's 'Belly-aching': "It seems to me that there's a difference between the kinds of books that Jonathan Franzen writes and Jodi Picoult writes — so it's not surprising to me that they're treated differently in terms of review coverage or literary coverage.
