| ALA Releases Media Kit to Help Libraries Make E-book Case to the Public The ALA this week released a "media kit" to help librarians take their case for e-book to the people, continuing efforts it kicked off in September to give the simmering e-books issue more public attention. more » Through a partnership with independent bookstores, the Authors Guild has created a program called Booktalk Nation, which will feature phone talks with various authors. The program, which the Guild previewed last year, will allow readers to call in to speak to the authors, with each session hosted by a different indie. more » Priddy Books, an imprint of the Macmillan Children's Publishing Group, is releasing Play and Learn with Wallace a series of children's early learning apps for the iPad. Designed in consultation with educators to combine educational gaming and interactive play, the app is now available for $3.99 in the App Store. more » A series of events at the Guadalajara Book Fair gave librarians from various regions the chance to share information about the demand for Spanish-language books. more »
E-Reads Cuts Print Prices Independent e-book and POD publisher E-Reads has cut print prices by as much as 25% in a bid to narrow the gap between print and e-book prices. "We're hoping that readers who prefer paper will no longer be inhibited by the gap between our e-book and paperback prices," said founder and CEO Richard Curtis.
