| Follett Corporation didn't have to look far for its new president and CEO, the first from outside the Follett family in its nearly 140-year history. On November 15, the board unanimously elected one of their own, Mary Lee Schneider, former president of Digital Solutions and chief technology officer at RR Donnelley. Schneider's digital background was cited as key to her appointment as Follett speeds up its digital transformation in the higher education market. more » Peter Berkery, Jr. has been named the new executive director of the Association of American University Presses. Berkery, who has been v-p and publisher of the US Law division of Oxford University Press, will assume his new position March 1, succeeding long-time AAUP director Peter Givler. more » ADVERTISEMENT Family Christian Stores in Management, Investors Buyout Family Christian Stores, the largest Christian retail chain, with 280 stores in 36 states, has been acquired from its private equity owners by the chain's management team and three investors. The new owners pledge to contribute 100% of Family's profits to Christian ministries. With the change in ownership, Family is dropping its own e-reading device and will start carrying Kobo digital readers. more » Citing the growth in popularity of the EPub format and a decline in demand for other e-book formats, Barnes & Noble is shutting down its Fictionwise.com e-book retailing site and its affiliated sites effective December 4.
