| Orbach Replaced by Chadwick at Quarto At the special meeting of Quarto shareholders held today, company cofounder and CEO Laurence Orbach was removed as a director of the publishing company and replaced by Tim Chadwick. The meeting had been forced by two shareholder groups led by Harwood Capital that hold a 19% stake in the publisher and who have been unhappy with Quarto's performance under the direction of Orbach. Harwood's move to unseat Orbach succeeded despite the fact that Orbach had the backing of the Quarto board. more » Total revenue dipped and earnings fell in News Corp.'s publishing division in the first quarter ended September 30, but HarperCollins said it had a "solid" quarter boosted by the July purchase of Thomas Nelson which led to a "significant increase" in revenue. Worldwide e-book sales (excluding Nelson) for the first quarter represented 16% of total sales. more » ADVERTISEMENT Indigo Books & Music, Canada's largest book retail chain, reported that revenue in the second quarter ended September 29, declined 5.9%, to C$185.6 million. Tracking Amazon: Patriotic Books Rise, But So Do Christmas Books The morning following Election Day saw, predictably, a rise in patriotic and political books on Amazon.
