| U.S. Attorneys May Weigh in On GSU E-Reserves Case In a brief filed last week in the Georgia State e-reserves case, U.S. attorneys asked for a 21-day extension "in which to file any amicus brief in support of appellants, or in support of neither party." However, in a hint as to how the parties feel the government filing will go, the brief states that the Plaintiffs/Appellants—that is, the publishers—have consented to the government's request, while the GSU Defendants/Appellees do not consent, and could oppose U.S. participation. more » Colin Harrison has been promoted to v-p and editor-in-chief at Scribner. Harrison, who was a senior editor, has been at the Simon & Schuster imprint for 11 years. more » Digital Manga Inc., a California-based manga publishers specializing in the yaoi genre and digital delivery, will close Digital Manga Direct, its wholesale division. Cambridge's Lorem Ipsum Could Close This Weekend In November the founder of used bookstore Lorem Ipsum in Cambridge, Mass., posted a note on Hacker News asking if anyway knew of a hacker who wanted to buy a bookstore. Last weekend the search for a new owner or partner to further integrate a physical bookstore with technology took on added urgency when the store's landlord threatened to terminate the lease on February 1.
