Bergstrom Named Publisher of Gallery
Jennifer Bergstrom has been tapped to head Simon & Schuster's Gallery Books imprint. Bergstrom, whose new title is v-p and publisher, is being promoted from her current position as editor-in-chief of the imprint. She will be reporting to president and publisher of the Gallery Publishing Group, Louise Burke. more »
Reading Rainbow Adds Digital Titles from National Geographic Kids
Reading Rainbow, the longtime PBS reading show now relaunched as RRKidz, an interactive digital book app, is partnering with National Geographic Kids to offer a line of branded digital picture books and easy readers. RRKidz will debut the National Geographic Kids' digital content beginning in March 2013 with 30 titles. more »
Richard Ben Cramer's What It Takes Cracks Top 10
Hours after his death from lung cancer at the age of 62, Richard Ben Cramer's chronicle of the 1988 presidential race, What It Takes, jumped to #9 from #856 on Amazon's bestseller list. The Kindle edition jumped to #55 from #2,237. Here's an extended PW feature on Cramer and his work. more »
S&S Brings Nixon's Complete Works to E
Simon & Schuster has brought Richard Nixon to digital. The publisher will be releasing the complete works of the 37th president on January 9, in honor of Nixon's 100th birthday. The deal for the 10 titles being released was brokered between S&S's Jonathan Karp and agent Robert C. Odle, Jr. of Weil, Gotshal & Manges (who was working on behalf of The Richard Nixon Foundation). The e-books will be the first digital copies of the president's work made available. more »

Literati Bookstore Scheduled to Open in Ann Arbor

Dzanc Books, a seven-year-old literary nonprofit publisher headquartered in Ann Arbor, Mich., is starting off the new year by launching DISQUIET.
