Weber Joins Macmillan Trade

Andrew Weber Named to Top Post at Macmillan
Andrew Weber has been named global trade chief operating officer at Macmillan. Weber is joining Macmillan from Bonobos.com (the online commerce Web site that specializes in men's clothing), where he was v-p of operations. Before Bonobos he spent 16 years at Random House, where his last position was senior v-p of operations and technology. Weber is taking on many of the duties of Brian Napack, who stepped down as president of Macmillan in December 2011; he will be reporting to John Sargent. more »
ReaderLink Offers txtr's E-book Solution in U.S.
Just before Christmas, ReaderLink signed an agreement with Berlin-based txtr to be the exclusive partner of its e-book solution in the U.S. to its large retail clients and to indies. more »
Lerner Publishing Promotes Stockland, Closing NYC Office
Lerner Publishing Group announced Monday that Patricia Stockland, editorial director of the Lerner Publications imprint, has been named the company's editor-in chief. She replaces Mary Rodgers, who left LPG in November. LPG is also closing its New York City office at the end of this month when it moves its Graphic Universe imprint to Minneapolis. more »
Macmillan and Entangled Sign Distribution Partnership
Macmillan has reached an agreement with Entangled Publishing to handle global distribution for the digital publishing house, beginning February 1. Macmillan will distribute English language e-books of Entangled's new publications in all domestic and international markets where Macmillan currently does business and for all platforms. Entangled has also signed with Macmillan's St. Martin's Press division to launch a new joint venture imprint known as St. Martin's/Entangled which will bring into print a select number of Entangled's digital first titles. more »

Abrams Releasing Anniversary JFK Book
On the 60th anniversary of John F. Kennedy's assassination, Abrams is going to publish The Kennedy Years. The book, which will chronicle JFK's presidency, will feature original reporting and photographs from the archives of The New York Times, along with new essays from Times contributors. At Abrams, David Cashion brokered the deal for the book, which is scheduled for fall 2013, with Alex Ward at the Times. more » »

Obituary: Robbin Reynolds
Robbin Reynolds, who retired from Workman Publishing as general manager in 1996, died on December 19, in Essex, Conn. Before joining Workman she was a senior editor at Harper & Row where she published such best sellers as In Search of Excellence: Lessons from America's Best-Run Companies, by Thomas Peters and Robert Waterman. At Workman, Reynolds was instrumental in computerizing the office and implementing electronic ordering. more » »

Tracking Amazon: Dieting Books Dominate Top 10
One week into 2013, it looks as if people are sticking to their New Year's resolutions, as four of the top 10 print books selling at Amazon were dieting books. The Plan by Lyn-Genet Recitas (#2), Shred by Ian K. Smith (#4), Wheat Belly Cookbook by William Davis (#9), and Fat Chance by Robert H. Lustig, all made the top of the chart, though Robert Jordan's A Memory of Light was #1 overall on its publication day. more »

Apple Crosses 40 Billion Apps Downloaded
Apple has reported that people have downloaded more than 40 billion apps on the iPhone, iPad and the iPod Touch, nearly half of them in 2012. In December, record downloads were reported to the tune of 2 billion apps for the month. Apple said it has paid app developers more than $7 billion. more »
