| Macmillan Settles E-book Price Suit with DoJ With its larger publisher competitors already having settled with the Department of Justice, Macmillan said Friday morning that it too has reached an agreement that will end the government's lawsuit over its e-book pricing policy. In a letter to authors, illustrators and agents Macmillan CEO John Sargent said he agreed to settle "because the potential penalties became too high to risk even the possibility of an unfavorable outcome." more » The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia was Nielsen BookScan's #1 bestseller for the week ending February 3, selling nearly 60,000 copies in its first week. A significant percentage of that number is likely preorders, as the book spent 100 days in Amazon's top 100 (many of them in the top 10) before it even released. more » Another imprint of bankrupt D&M Publishers has found a new home with New Society Publishers being re-acquired by its previous owners and D&M creditors Chris and Judith Plant and Carol Newell of Renewal Partnersreall.
