Morrow Discussing Plans for Kyle Title

Chris Kyle Hits #1; Morrow Meeting About New Book
Hours after Chris Kyle was killed over the weekend, his book American Sniper went to both #1 (mass market) and #3 (hardcover) on Amazon. It also reached #3 on the Kindle bestseller chart. Publisher Morrow was scheduled to release Kyle's second book, American Gun, in May but the company said it is planning to meet this week to discuss what changes it may make to its publication plans. more »

James Jordan is retiring from Columbia University Press. Jordan, who is currently president and director of CUP, is stepping down in September. more »
'Going Clear,' 'My Beloved Country' Join CoverCake Leaders
Without a blockbuster release in January, the most-discussed books in social media circles last month remained the same as in December, although there was some shifting of the order, with Fifty Shades of Grey taking over the #1 spot from The Hobbit, according to CoverCake's analysis of books trending on social media. more »

B&N Names 'Discover' Finalists
Barnes & Noble has named the six finalists in its annual writing contest, the Discover Great New Writers Award. The contest, known as the Discover Awards, was established in 1990; this year's winners, who each receive a $10,000 prize and a year of promotion from the retailer, will be named on March 6 at a ceremony. Cambridge Completes Warehouse Sale
Cambridge University Press has completed the sale of its U.S. warehouse and distribution facility in West Nyack, N.Y. CUP announced plans to sell the warehouse as part of a strategic process that included an agreement last summer with Ingram Publisher Services to have Ingram manage the warehousing and distribution of the press's U.S. printed inventory. more »
