| Najafi Companies Sells Direct Brands Four-and-half years after acquiring Bookspan and Columbia House from Bertelsmann, the Najafi Companies has sold its majority interest in those businesses' parent company, Direct Brands, to Pride Tree Holdings. In its announcement, Najafi Cos. said the deal was done in the fourth quarter of 2012. more » Indigo Books & Music, Canada's largest book retailer, reported a 4.9% drop in net revenue in its third quarter, which ended Dec. 29, 2012, to C$335.6 million, compared to the same quarter last year. The company attributed the decrease to lower e-reader revenues and declining sales of print books as its customers shift to digital reading. A lack of big blockbuster books in the season was also noted. more » Diamond Book Distributors, a graphic novel and pop culture merchandise distributor, reports 2012 sales and revenue rose "in double digits across the board," and that its returns for the year were down. Slated for publication in August 2013 by Top Shelf Productions, March is a three volume graphic autobiography of longtime Congressman and legendary Civil Rights veteran John Lewis, that will be co-produced by Andrew Aydin, Lewis' co-writer, and award-winning cartoonist Nate Powell.
