| Amazon Buys Goodreads Amazon has acquired Goodreads.com, a Web site featuring user-generated reviews of books. Changing Hands Bookstore to Open Second Location in Phoenix Changing Hands Bookstore, which has been in business in Tempe, Az. since 1974, announced that it will open a second store in The Newton, a mixed-use space for dining and shopping that will open in Phoenix in November 2013. Brian Freeman, author of the Jonathan Stride mystery-thriller novels, celebrated his 50th birthday this week in Duluth, Minn. with a book signing at Fitger's Bookstore, a reading from The Cold Nowhere (Quercus) and cupcakes. The Cold Nowhere, which is the sixth Jonathan Stride novel, is set in Duluth. |
