| New Owner for The Book Stall PW's Bookstore of the Year for 2012, The Book Stall at Chestnut Court in Winnetka, Ill., is about to change hands. Late last week long-time owner Roberta Rubin signed a letter of intent with 48-year-old Stephanie Hochschild, who will officially take over the store on June 1. Although Winnetka-resident Hochschild had no bookselling experience when she first approached Rubin about buying the store last summer, she quickly gained it over the fall. Hochschild worked at The Book Stall from October through early December. She also attended this year's Winter Institute. more » Grey House Publishing will become the publisher of the print editions of the H.W. Wilson product line under a new exclusive license between EBSCO Publishing (EBSCO) and Grey House. Grey House will maintain the publishing schedule of the Wilson list, under a joint imprint, beginning April 1. Sales of the list will be supported by Wilson/Grey House in-house sales team, library jobbers and indie rep groups. more » Interest in the Oscars and the books that many were based on garnered lots of buzz on social media in February, but it was the murder of Chris Kyle, author of American Sniper, that put that title atop CoverCake's most-talked-about books in social media last month. CoverCake's v-p of client services Jeff Costello noted that a large percentage of comments on Twitter, Facebook, and elsewhere about the death of Kyle mentioned Sniper, which drove the title to the top of the list. more » Coffee House Press announced Friday that it is adding essay collections and creative nonfiction to its publishing program. The Minneapolis nonprofit, founded in 1984, is renowned for its literary fiction and poetry lists, including National Book Award finalist for poetry, Blood Dazzler by Patricia Smith (2008) and for fiction, I Hotel by Karen Tei Yamashita (2010). more »
Health Communications, Inc. (HCI), the original publisher of the Chicken Soup for the Soul franchise, has long been a producer of inspirational and self-help books. Their latest publication, The Adventures of Binder-Man, is as a collection of true stories illustrating how "small choices made each day can create joy, meaning, and lasting change."
