Cavendish Square Buys Library Titles from Marshall Cavendish
Cavendish Square, a new educational publishing company founded by Roger Rosen, has signed a deal to acquire the assets of Marshall Cavendish's North American library operation, including the Benchmark, Bookworm, MC Reference, and MC Digital lists. In all, the Marshall Cavendish library lists are composed of over 3,000 print and digital works developed for the K-12 school library and public library markets. more »
'Fifty Shades' Publisher Up at RH
Anne Messitte, publisher of Vintage Anchor Books, has been promoted to executive v-p of the Knopf Doubleday Group. In addition to her current duties, Messitte will be, said group chairman Sonny Mehta, "broadening the strategic role she plays in our publishing group" and ultimately looking to "define opportunities and manage change." more »
McNally Jackson to Open Store with Objects for Home Office
Sarah McNally, who opened McNally Jackson Books in the Nolita neighborhood of New York City in 2004, is preparing to open McNally Jackson Store: Goods for the Study. The new store is set to open in mid-April on Mulberry Street, just steps away from the bookstore entrance. more »
Yale Awards $1.35M to Nine Writers
The Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library at Yale announced the inaugural winners of the Windham Campbell Prizes, a new global writer's award created with a gift from the late Donald Windham and his partner, Sandy M. Campbell. Nine $150,000 prizes were awarded for outstanding achievement in fiction, nonfiction and drama. more »

Alison Law is the new AJC Decatur Book Festival assistant program director, effective immediately. She is an Atlanta-based writer and marketing consultant.

Twisne Fan will join Macmillan on March 18 as v-p of trade manufacturing and production. She was most recently the senior production director at Simon & Schuster.

At becker&mayer!, Stephanie Swane has been promoted to director of sales and licensing, and Barney Duly has joined as international sales manager.

At HMH, Ken Carpenter, currently v-p editorial director, Mariner and also director of Tolkien Projects, now adds editorial director, CliffsNotes to his title, with Cliffs executive editor Greg Tubach reporting to him. Also at HMH, Deanne Urmy has been promoted to senior executive editor. Rux Martin has assumed the title of editorial director, Rux Martin Books. more » »

Open Road Agrees with Holiday House
Open Road has agreed with Holiday House to digitally publish and distribute selected chapter books by Betsy Byars and 13 picture books by Tomie dePaola. The Byars's titles include The Blossom Family series, while dePaola's Patrick, Patron Saint of Ireland will be the first from that author to be released by Open Road, coming out on St. Patrick's Day. more »
