| In ReDigi Case, Court Forcefully Rejects Digital First Sale Just weeks after bemoaning the outcome in Kirtsaeng vs. Wiley, a Supreme Court decision involving the first sale doctrine, publishers were bolstered yesterday by a district court decision in Capitol Records vs. ReDigi, in which federal judge Richard Sullivan rejected the expansion of first sale to cover digital files, a ruling that calls into question the viability of selling used digital products, including e-books. more » In filings this week, Amazon and the Big Six publishers—in a joint filing—moved to dismiss a lawsuit filed by independent booksellers alleging that Amazon's use of DRM in its Kindle e-reading program. more » The Harvard Common Press announced that they have completed the process of opening a San Francisco office, which will be headed up by associate publisher, Adam Salomone. Kobo E-reader Devices for Sale at Kobo.com E-book retailer Kobo is offering its suite of e-reading devices for purchase through the Kobo.com Web site for customers in the U.S. and Canada.
